Kick-off Event spring term 2019

Our guest professor Nedim Gürsel will be introduced by professor Anke von Kügelgen answering questions about his artistic work and plans in Bern.

Nedim Gürsel ist 1951 in der Türkei geboren. Er studierte französische Literatur und Komparatistik an der Sorbonne, wo er auch promovierte. 1976 veröffentlichte er mit Un long été à Istanbul seine ersten Erzählungen. Darauf folgten zahlreiche Romane, Novellen und Essays, darunter La Première femme (1986), Les Filles d’Allah (2009) und Le fils du capitaine (2016). Gürsels Werke sind in zwölf Sprachen erschienen und mehrfach ausgezeichnet worden.

The public kick-off event of the Friedrich Dürrenmatt Guest Professorship for World Literature will take place on March 6 (6.30 p.m.) at the Hallersaal of the Burgerbibliothek Bern and will be in French and German.
