Global ecological and climate debates are often grounded on scientific data. At the same time, sociocultural and -political factors play an important role in how we perceive and interact with the environment. Conversely, environmental thinking has also had a profound impact on communities in the broadest sense. The website, dedicated to Ecology and Community: Cultural Environmental Perspectives (ECCEP), showcases the broad range of environmental research carried out in various disciplines at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Bern.
The website specifically aims to foreground the often-overlooked work on “the community” and the perspectives through which human societies interact with their environmental contexts and experiences. It also provides a starting point for exploring these projects and finding out more about environmental research in the humanities and cultural studies.
