Louis-Philippe Dalembert was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and is one of the greatest writers of his generation. Author of over twenty novels, he has for the last thirty years been moving back and forth from his native country to countries such as France, Italy, the United States, Germany, and Israel. He has received much recognition for his work. Among many other things, he is a past fellow at the Villa Medici in Rome, a Knight of Art and Writing in France, he had been a guest at the Berliner Künstlerprogramm of the DAAD, and he received the Prix Casa de las Américas à Cuba. His works, highly praised by critics, have been translated into more than ten languages. Furthermore, Louis-Phiippe Dalembert has a degree from the Ecole normale supérieure at Post-au-Prince, a degree in journalism in Paris and he is the author of a doctoral thesis in comparative literature about the Cuban author Alejo Carpentier (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle). He was visiting professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2013) and O’Brien Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Scripps College, California (2014).
